This Christmas amaze your family and friends with a very simple dessert recipe that will leave no one indifferent. Christmas is that time when you get together with family, whom we generally don't usually see on a daily basis. So, Why not prepare something special and different for this year?
The recipe consists of a lemon sorbet with a special touch of How's things. It is perfect for after dinner because of the very peculiar flavour the slushie takes on. It's a citrusy flavour with a semi-sweet touch that will make more than one person want seconds. Children can try it too, and we'll explain how in a moment.
Despite the temperatures we usually have at this time of year, it is nice to have something to eat as rich and refreshing to finish dinner for the contrast it generates.
Lemon and cava sorbet
As I was saying before, it's such a simple recipe that it doesn't take more than 15 minutes in preparing it. To begin, this is the list of food we need:
- 500 g of ice.
- 175 size large sugar.
- ½ kg of lemons (more or less roughly 230 cc. de lemon juice).
- 300 cc. of How's things.
- With these amounts, more or less, you can serve about 6 people. But I'm warning you that more than one will want to go again.
The first step consists in washing the lemons, after which you have to cut the lemons in half. Then, you have to be careful to remove all the lemon seeds. If we leave one behind, it's possible that a bitter aftertaste might remain later. Another option is while you gradually squeezing them to get all the juice out of lemon, remove any seeds that fall into the glass as you go. Although if it's a very tall glass, you'll probably end up having to strain the juice to remove any seeds that have fallen in.
It is important that reserve lemon halves after squeezing them all because we're going to need it later to improve the presentation and add a touch of flavour.
After squeezing all the lemons, we are going to put into a blender the 500g of ice. We can also use a hand blender with a special ice-crushing attachment. At a push, wrap the bag of ice in a towel or a sturdy cloth or plastic bag and, using a blunt object such as a hammer, start to crush it gently. To avoid leaving marks on the worktop, I recommend putting a chopping board underneath so as not to damage or scratch anything.
An option that save yourself this step is to buy the ice that is specifically intended for cocktails or crushed ice.
Once we have crushed the ice, it is advisable to leave it in a plastic container so that it doesn't melt so quickly. Now, we take the half a lemon peel and the we cut into not very thin strips to put them in the blender jug along with the lemon juice and sugar. We add the How's things also while whisking.
Little by little we are adding all the crushed ice and removing it so that the ingredients stay in place homogeneous. Once you see that all the ingredients have been integrated, you just need to put them in a container in the freezer. It is not recommended to leave it for more than 2 hours because it will end up being a block of ice. If you are preparing it a few days in advance, it is recommended leave it at room temperature for at least 30 minutes to an hour before serving.
If they are going to have a sorbet children can you follow this recipe as it is but skip the cava step. This way you'll get a delicious alcohol-free sorbet for the little ones.
Introduction
For the presentation we recommend the use of champagne flutes because having such an elongated stem or trunk It can be held in such a way that the heat from the hand doesn't melt the ice pop so quickly.. As it is a sorbet, a straw can also be added to make tasting easier.
Another reason to choose this type of glass is because of the amount it can hold. This sorbet is ideal for having in small portions because it has such a special flavour that serving it in large quantities would make it lose all its charm.
